Elissa is a self-taught gardener with hours of experience, experimenting and failures when it comes to growing a flower garden in the Yukon. Known in Whitehorse (and on TikTok) as The Garden Witch, Elissa’s specialty is growing annual flowers from seed during the deep, dark Yukon winters. This year she grew and enjoyed nearly 300 different flowering plants in her small garden. Her garden is her art studio where she lovingly creates fresh floral arrangements as well as pressed flower art and botanically dyed garments by hand. Much of what Elissa grows has our local pollinators in mind as she recognizes the importance of creating a space that insects, birds and humans can all enjoy in harmony.
