Bruce Bennett
Bruce is the curator of the B.A. Bennett Yukon Herbarium (BABY), the only registered herbarium in northern Canada. Bruce is an expert in arctic botany having 30 years of field experience throughout the arctic regions from Newfoundland to Alaska with particular knowledge of plants of Yukon, Alaska, British Columbia, and the Canadian Arctic.

Although plants have been used by First Nations peoples since time immemorial, western science is still discovering the treasures of the Yukon flora. Starting with the first collections by the Franklin Expedition in 1826 to present day this talk will identify the botanists and explorers who contributed to the knowledge of plant species in Yukon.

All plants have a story; during this walk Bruce will show ways to identify the plants and share some of their traits including which can be used as food or medicine and those to avoid.
